Over the counter Acne Treatment
Over the counter products for treating mild acne is gaining popularity these days. These products are available in the market without any prescription by a doctor. They are cost effective and have little or no side effects.
There are two types of products available at pharmacies, medicated and natural. Medicated products use benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur, and resorcinol. Natural or herbal products include cucumber, aloe vera, vitamin E, etc. Over the counter, treatments are available in the form of the lotion, creams, washes, and cleansers.

Alcohol and Acetone:
Acetone and alcohol are used in combination in a lot of products like cleansers and toners. Acetone if used alone for the treatment of acne does not affect. Alcohol controls the bacterium that causes acne and acetone are helpful in controlling the oil.
Benzoyl Peroxide:
It is known to be most effective in treating mild acne. It removes dead cells from the skin that clog in the pores causing acne. It is also responsible for killing the bacteria that causes acne.
Salicylic Acid:
Salicylic helps to prevent the abnormal shedding of the skin cells, and it must be used continuously to get the desired results.
Sulfur and Resorcinol:
They are found together in many products. Resorcinol helps to prevent the piling up of dead skin cells and sulfur has been in use for many years in over the counter treatments, but its direct effect is still unknown.
